UVC emitter for disinfection / sterilization
Newly developed LED floodlights with dedicated UVC LEDs with an active power of 80% in the range of 270-280 nm, as well approx. 20% in the UVA range 390-410 nm (visible light).
The LED chips type UV 3535 from the Japanese brand OHARA sit in a gold-plated housing and consist of 2 LED segments, just for UVC and UVA radiation.
UVC light has long been known for its disinfectant or sterilizing effect, since this radiation destroys the DNA of microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria, germs, spores, etc. and thus interrupts cell growth. Previous UVC lamps in the form of fluorescent tubes or high-pressure mercury lamps only have UVC light output of approx. 10%, the rest of the radiation is visible light and heat radiation. In addition, such lamps have the disadvantage of a long heating-up time and, in the event of breakage, the release of toxic mercury.
UVC LED lamps have a significantly longer life time than conventional UVC lamps.
Our LED-UVC-LED flood lights are equipped with MEANWELL-HLG power supplies, which can be easily replaced in the event of a defect.
So these UVC floodlights are ideal for installation e.g. in air shafts where the supply air is then disinfected by intensive UVC radiation.
Note:
These UVC lights can also be used as free emitters. However, UVV safety regulations must then be observed!
UVC radiation is very dangerous for all living beings - including humans and animals. Therefore, these lights may only be in operation when nobody is in the radiation area. The lights have a sensor that switches the light off immediately when motion is detected, but this is not really enough as the sole UVV protection. The lamp must be installed as a free spotlight by an electrician with UVV training. We therefore strongly recommend installation together with a UVV switch with door contact. This switches the light off when the door is opened and can only be manually switched on again from the outside.
